I Love My Muslim is a Documentary about Carla a 62-year-old woman from Amsterdam who converts to Islam and marries Fouad, a 33-year-old Libyan freedom fighter. With her typical Amsterdam no-nonsense attitude Carla copes with the tension that prevails around Islam and Muslims in her country. We screened the movie on several film festivals including Movies That Matter where the film was nominated for the Dutch doc award. We were invited by the Dutch Embassy in Bratislava and the film was selected by dok fest Munich. We published a photo series in Vrij Nederland. NRC, Trouw, Parool, Linda and Vice wrote beautiful articles/reviews about it. Finally, the documentary was purchased by the television channel Viceland. The range and impact of the film were greatly enlarged by a number of short clips that Viceland posts on their social media platforms. More than 300,000 people viewed the content.
